Air scrubbers are devices that purify indoor air. We install two types of air scrubber: one that uses UVC light to kill and deactivate viruses, and one that uses ionization to remove contaminants from your home’s air.

What is the difference between a scrubber and a filter?
The two air scrubbers we install use ionization and UV light technology, respectively, to attract contaminants and eliminate germs and viruses. This is different from a traditional air filter, which uses a physical medium (a cloth or paper-based filter) to capture large particulate matter. While air filters can help capture dust and pollen, they do nothing to deactivate or hold viruses and germs. It’s an important distinction for anyone interested in a healthier home!
Are air scrubbers really effective?
Yes. For years, hospitals and other healthcare providers have used air scrubbers in ventilation to kill or deactivate airborne viruses, bacteria, and other germs. Without the protection of their air scrubbers, hospitals would pose a major risk of cross-contamination to their patients, doctors, and staff. Portable versions of the same technology get brought in by mold remediation companies to clear out airborne mold particles during cleanup work.
Can an air scrubber remove viruses like COVID-19?
Yes. Both of the Nature’s Home products we install remove or deactivate viruses from the air. COVID-19 is not an airborne virus: it spreads in water droplets when people cough or sneeze. However, it can linger in air, especially in dry conditions. This is where a UV air scrubber can help: upon exposure, the virus is killed. In recirculating, indoor air, an air scrubber can reduce the virus spread from room-to-room. However, you should still take precautions when dealing with COVID-19.
